Croatia ๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‡ทย

Well, what a cool few days.  After a really early start, we arrived in Dubrovnik and were met by the fabulous Florio at the airport.  We had a very quick lesson n Croatian basics, which has served us well.

We checked in at the marina and found we could get the boat 2 hours ahead of expected.  With time to spare we took the bus into Old Dubrovnik.  It is truly stunning, with amazing architecture and great views.  The only thing that spoilt it was the absolute mass of tourists!!  If you potter up the limestone steps you can escape the, easily enough.  It’s fun to get a bit lost in a new town.

We did a bit of food shopping and decided to go back to the marina to sort out the boat. She’s a 34 ft Beneteau called Ipanema, great for a short break, but really tight on space. I think we’ve decided that a 36-38 ft is  better option for us.

We managed to get out on the first night to an anchorage in Lupod, which was loads busier than we expected, with lots of swell & rocking.  So a few days of firsts: Trev &a I on a boat together, setting anchor, raising anchor, putting sails up, using the tender & outboard.

There’s not been a huge amount of wind, so lots of motor sailing today over to Mjlet and playing in the super clear water with our snorkelling gear on.  Star fish, anemones and fish ๐ŸŸ everywhere.  We head over to Polace later for lunch at a secluded salt water lake and then try med docking tonight at a town quay๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป๐Ÿคž๐Ÿปwe pull it off with style!

There is nothing โ€“ absolutely nothing โ€“ half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.
