What an exciting day. On this mornings run 🏃♀️ I noticed that there were lots of TV cameras and events ‘things’ set up along the main promenade through Lagos. When Trev got back from the gym he bounded down the stairs and with unbridled excitement, announced that ‘there was something big going on in Lagos today’. We Googled what was happening, to find that it was the 1st day of the Algarve ao Volta – a 5 day race around the Algarve. With the sprint finish happening 5 minutes from the marina.
When we saw the team buses pulling in, we duly set off to investigate. As the finish time approached we chose our respective spots carefully. Trev at the 50m mark so he could watch the lead out train & the big screen for the coverage in the last few km. I was just beyond the finish line so I could try and get video of the finish.
I got chatting to a family who were on holiday & played a version of fantasy cycling, which I’d never heard of before. We might try this on some of the longer passages later in the year.
I’m always surprised at how close you can get to the riders after a race & the Sky team are so friendly.
